The Forbes listed billionaire had a rather humble beginning and started with virtually nothing. He began his journey by starting a small interior decoration firm in the Sultanate of Oman in 1976. With $7 in his pocket and high aspirations when he started, he has gone on to build an empire that supports and empowers approximately 40,000 families of those who are directly involved with the group.

From handling prestigious and high profile projects for the rulers of Oman, UAE, Bahrain, Qatar and Brunei to spearheading a USD 1 billion market-cap company in India, Sobha Ltd, he has scaled new heights of perfection through relentless pursuit for quality, uncompromising value systems, transparency and dedication to customer delight, making him the market leader in no time.

Mr. Menon is also a strong believer of giving back to the society in large measures and actively participates in various philanthropic initiatives in the UAE, India and Oman which make a significant difference and impact in the lives of those who are touched by his benevolence. He has also pledged 50% of his wealth to tackle the healthcare, education, hunger and sanitation challenges faced by the less fortunate and create maximum positive impact.

Great Things Start Small

With humble beginnings in India, Mr. PNC Menon’s long-standing journey commenced when he set up an interior decoration firm (STC) in the Sultanate of Oman in 1976. Filled with passion, he was determined to create and provide the best products in terms of quality and craftsmanship. By 1984, the business had established itself as a premier interior outfit on its course to win big contracts.

1994

Establishing Sri Kurumba Trust

In 1994, Mr. PNC Menon realised his passion to give back to the society in large measures by establishing the Sri Kurumba Trust. Through the initiatives undertaken within the Sri Kurumba Trust, Mr. Menon has earned a place in the hearts of thousands of people who he has uplifted and propelled to a better future.

1995

Royal Approval

Through sheer perseverance and demonstrated excellence, the company went on to work for the royalty of Oman, Bahrain, Brunei, Qatar and the president of Tajikistan in the next few years. Mr. PNC Menon spent the most glorious part of his career designing and developing palaces, royalty facilities and mosques. The Sultan Qaboos Grand Mosque is a standing testimony of his excellent craftsmanship. Over eight years, he developed a strong bond with Oman that facilitated a thriving foundation to achieve elevated success in the upcoming years. In 1995, the Sultan of Oman granted Omani citizenship to him and his family.


Establishing Sobha India

After his phenomenal success in the Middle East, Mr. PNC Menon entered the Indian real estate market at a nascent stage when it was in dire need of quality construction. In 1995, he founded Sobha Developers, headquartered in Bangalore. Presently, Sobha Ltd is a publicly listed USD 1 Billion market-cap company, with a pan-India presence in 24 cities and 13 states across India. For the last five years, Sobha has emerged as the top developer amongst more than 12000 developers in India. With a reputation for unmatched construction and interiors, Sobha Group has delivered over 100 Million square feet of both, residential and commercial projects since its inception.

2006

Established Sobha Hermitage

Sobha Hermitage, located on 27 acres of verdant green estates, is the most benevolent home one can hope to find for the elderly. It is the epitome of humanity, offering love, care, and support to the senior citizens. The residents stay in a secular and secure environment where they are provided with food, clothing, shelter and premium resources, and services along with the best facilities, all free of cost.

2007

Established Sobha Academy

The Sobha Academy was started in the year 2007 to empower and enable the rural poor to break away from the vicious circle of poverty, ignorance, deprivation, and exclusion by providing their children with high-quality education. Every academic year, 90 students are taken in. Once admitted, all the requirements of the children, including food, transportation, uniforms, books, medical care, etc., are met at no cost.


Established Sobha Healthcare

The Sobha Health Care Centre has redefined the limits of primary healthcare institutions anywhere in the country. The target group comprises the approximately 4,600 BPL families of the adopted panchayats, senior citizens of SOBHA Hermitage, students of the SOBHA Academy and their parents. The facilities include free consultation, diagnosis, tests, treatment, and medicines. The centre has also set up outreach counters to reach out to the needy at their doorsteps.

2013

Established Sobha Icon

One of the several educational initiatives of the Trust is ‘Sobha Icon’, which aims at creating ‘icons for India’ by making high-quality learning opportunities available for deserving students of other government schools who have exceptional skills but not the opportunities to grow. Regular academic professionals have been engaged to enhance the performance of more than 450 students.

2014

Homes That Inspire – Sobha Hartland

Developing world-class luxury homes and offices for over five decades, Mr. Menon decided the bar had to rise even higher. He believed three elements were essential in creating an exceptional residence — exquisite design, uncompromising quality, and on-time delivery of projects. Sobha Hartland was the sublime brainchild of Mr. Menon to house the world’s most discerning at the epicenter of Dubai. This resort-style luxury housing development was launched as a $4 billion project in Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum City. Encompassing 8 million square feet of freehold community and mixed-use development, 30% (2.4 million sq ft) of the community has been reserved for green and open spaces.

2016

Humanitarian Efforts

In 2016, Mr. PNC Menon and Mrs. Sobha Menon signed The Giving Pledge – an initiative undertaken by The Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation and Mr. Warren Buffet, to donate 50% of their wealth to charity to address the significant problems of society.

2018

Mr. PNC Menon joins the Board or Governors at Rashid Centre for the Determined Ones

Mr. PNC Menon was appointed in the Board of Governors for Rashid Centre of Determination, a centre which helps and supports students of determination by designing and delivering an integrated program of education and therapies to enable them to take progressive steps towards learning and experience success. Mr. PNC Menon considers this as an important highlight of his career as it is a conscious step for contributing to the welfare of the special children and a way of giving back to the society.

2023

Sobha Realty pledges towards UAE’s ‘1 Billion Meals’ initiative

The 1 Billion Meals initiative provides direct access to food supplies to some of the most disadvantaged communities around the world especially vulnerable groups such as children, refugees, displaced persons and those affected by disasters. Sobha Realty has pledged AED 50 million towards this initiative as a part of its commitment towards social responsibility in 2023.
